Vermont flood clay steel railroad tracks Alaska steel sculpture color roofing paper
It's Like Falling Into Water
Steel, roofing paper, wire, silk, fabric, sinker
112 x 50 x 53 inches

This sculpture makes the viewer look up. After the flood from Tropical Storm Irene, I noticed all kinds of strange things and detritus hung up in the trees. Since I live between the railroad tracks and the White River I referenced the tracks in the sculpture. The title comes from a saying that my friend said after not seeing each other for 36 years. He said that "It's like falling into water." I thought that was apropos.
